Enabling over 2000 very individual bookstores with a white label e-commerce platform

Independent bookstores and retail chains face increasing pressure competing with Amazon. At the same time, readers continue to value the curated selections and personal expertise offered by their local bookshops.

freiheit.com technologies brought John Grøtting and me in to definde the UX and UI for the white-label online shop system of Libri’s Shopline platform, including an intuitive content management experience. Through this platform, Libri enables more than 2,000 bookstores to bring their unique assortments and recommendations online. A key focus was creating a highly flexible front end and an easy-to-use web builder, allowing store owners to customize their digital storefronts while maintaining the character of their local shops.

John and I assembled a small interdisciplinary team of four and collaborated closely to design and build the prototype within three months.
